Proficient Chess player, Tunde Onakoya has announced that he will attempt to break the Guiness world record for the longest chess marathon on April 17,2024 at Times Square New York City for 58 hours without losing a game.
Onakoya made this known via his instagram handle with a picture of him playing chess.
According to him, he is “doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.”
The chess player also noted that his attempt “is by far one of the hardest things” he’ll ever have to do.
He clamoured for support noting that he needs it now more than ever for there to be increased awareness towards what Chess in Slums Africa and the Gift Charity organisation does.
Note that Onakoya is known for his incredible expertise in the game of chess. He plays effortlessly and has organized a number of interventions for children across slums in Lagos state including Ikorodu, Makoko and Oshodi.
He is the founder of Chess in Slums Africa, a non-governmental organisation that seeks to provide education for marginalised children through chess.
