Afrobeat superstar David Adeleke aka Davido is in the news again as X (Twitter) community notes accuse him of being a scammer.
The singer launched into the cryptocurrency industry recently with his own memecoin, $Davido.
Due to his status, many netizens felt safe and invested heavily in the project.
However, they were not pleased as barely 24 hours later, Davido removed his profit leading to a huge loss amongst many who invested.
This has however caused confusion as many of them are now calling him out online, labeling him as a fraud.
Davido responding to the allegations chose instead to keep on promoting his memecoin as he promises there are more exciting things coming.
In his earlier post he had encouraged his followers to join promising of more exciting things to come
“Join the community $DAVIDO! More spaces coming soon and you’ll be REALLY excited by who we got coming up next! @davidotoken_sol,” he said.
This enraged netizens who made a community note under one of the posts he used to promote his coin, alleging that Davido promotes cryptocurrency scams while sharing evidence.
Considering his superstar status, many fans are worried about the potential impact this might have on his career.
Further emphasizing his involvement and transparency, Davido shared another post detailing a recent event where he demonstrated the use of his cryptocurrency
Those who joined the space with me and @blknoiz06 got to witness me creating my @phantom wallet and receive $100 via the @solana network in a matter of seconds!” he added.
This series of posts marks Davido’s first public engagement on the issue since allegations of fraud and mismanagement began to circulate.
