Popular Nigerian businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu popularly called Cubana Chiefpriest has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The socialite was detained after a video of him lavishly throwing heavy words of naira notes at a celebrant in an event an act that piqued the curiosity of the EFCC and got them to submit a case against him.
Cubana Chiefpriest will be charged before Justice Kehinde Ogundare with three charges of naira misuse for allegedly spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social gathering, violating the Central Bank Act of 2007.
However, several videos of the entertainment hype man lavishly spraying the Nigerian currency at several events have emerged.
In two separate videos spotted by newsmen the socialite was seen spraying and throwing Naira at an event at Eko Hotel on February 13th 2024, an event in Lagos in January 2024 and another event in 2020.
This is coming days after the EFCC arraigned controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky on similar charges for which he was sentenced to a six-month jail term.
Meanwhile, Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, has pleaded with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to forgive him if they have any evidence against him abusing the Naira.
He said it was never his intention to mutilate the Naira, stressing that he only sprays money to help the masses.
Speaking in a recent Instagram live session, Portable noted that he respects constituted authority.
