The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Abuja in commemoration with the celebration of World Bicycle Day had a flag-off at the corps’ headquarter.
Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed on Monday flagged-off the 2024 United Nations World Bicycle Day Commemoration with the theme: ‘Cycling as a Tool for Urban Freedom’.
The flag-off which signified the corps’ support took place at the federal road safety corp (FRSC) headquarters with the presence of numerous officers and invited guests.
Part of the activity of the day was the signing on the banner by corp marshal, Shehu Mohammed and cycling.
According to a post on the website of the United Nations “World Bicycle Day draws attention to the benefits of using the bicycle — a simple, affordable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation.
“On 15 March 2022, the General Assembly adopted the resolution on integration of mainstream bicycling into public transportation systems for sustainable development.
“Acknowledging the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transportation, fostering environmental stewardship and health, the General Assembly decided to declare 3 June World Bicycle Day.”
