Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke aka‘Davido’ has shown great support for Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya, as he attempts to break a Guinness World Record.
The 29-year-old chess master’s attempt has drawn the attention of many Nigerians including celebrities as he embarks on a mission to break the record for the longest chess-playing streak by playing for 58 hours without losing.
This is coming shortly after singer Adekunle Gold visited Times Square to support Tunde Onakoya with his presence.
In a series of videos that made the rounds online, the DMW boss, his wife Chioma, his manager, Asa Asika, and some other 30BG crew member were at the venue to show their support.
In the clip, a group of Nigerians had gathered around Onakoya while drumming and singing when they were alerted about Davido’s presence. The crowd could not hide their excitement at having the superstar in their midst. Onakoya also got up to acknowledge the presence of the Afrobeat musician with a hug.
The event, which is underway at New York City’s iconic Times Square, started on Wednesday, April 17, and is scheduled to end today April 19.
Onakoya has emerged triumphant in all encounters so far, including his match with New York’s National Chess Master, Shawn Martinez.
So far, it’s been 40 hours 36 minutes and still counting. The donation has risen to $42,800+ and supporters who connect to his live via his Instagram handle are saying their prayers for him and cheering him on.
