The Federal Government has increased its offer of a new national minimum wage from ₦60,000 to ₦62,000, while organized labour has reduced its demand from ₦494,000 to ₦250,000.
The Tripartite Committee on New National Minimum Wage has adjourned as there was no consensus at the meeting.
The organized private sector also backed the government offer of ₦62,000.
Meanwhile, Governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) had rejected the earlier proposed ₦60,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers stating that if the ₦60,000 minimum wage is adopted, many states would allocate their entire Federal Account Allocation Committee funds to salaries, leaving no resources for development projects.
With the new development, one is left to wonder what their response would be
